ING Group Strategy and Innovation (GS&I) is looking for an Innovation Strategy Consultant.

The GS&I department reports directly to the CEO of ING Bank and is composed of 3 complementary teams: (i) Group Innovation, (ii) Group Strategy Consulting, and (iii) Group Corporate Development. Each team has a specific scope, yet actively and continuously collaborates with each other through strategic insights in their core areas and leverages their key capabilities when needed by the other teams.
The role of the department is to advance ING’s strategy of Making the Difference by being the strategic advisors to the Management Board Banking (MBB) and Senior Management, in topics related to general strategy and disruptive innovation strategies. Its innovation objectives are to 1) prepare ING for industry transforming trends, 2) create growth engines and 3) translate emerging technologies into bite-sized use-cases.
Group Innovation is dedicated to innovation exploration, validation of innovative solutions and development of these in close collaboration with business stakeholders. Group Innovation consists of a Strategy Consulting & Expertise team and a Development & Deployment team.
What will you be doing?
As an Innovation Strategy Consultant, reporting to an Innovation Project Lead and working under the direction of the Global Head of Innovation, your responsibilities include:
Working in interdisciplinary project teams to explore, validate and develop innovative solutions in line with the innovation objectives under the direction of an Innovation Project Lead
Proposing to the Board, with regular cadence, a set of concrete applications stemming from the latest innovation trends identified. Concrete applications shall include a full-fledged business case of the initiative and a detailed estimate of financial and human resources and technical capabilities/skills required to develop the initiative
Collaborating with business areas across the bank to build consensus around feasibility, desirability and strategic fit of use cases to propose to the Board
Profile:
Master's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or related field
3 to 5 years of work experience as a (strategy) consultant
Proven project leadership and team management skills
Proven communication / influencing skills
Excellent analytical skills (e.g. modelling in Excel) with a strong attention to detail
Clear knowledge depth and content expertise in one or more financial services topics
Deep innovation knowledge base, including methodologies, trends, benchmarks and applications in financial services industry
Strong "business sense" combined with the ability to research new topics to develop insights and drive actionable results
Ability to think out-of-the box
Must be fluent in English
